Introducing Safer Horizons: A New Chapter for Domestic Abuse Survivors

We are incredibly proud to introduce Safer Horizons — a new charity created through the partnership of DAIT 4 Change and SAFE Partnership, bringing together more than a decade of frontline experience and a long-standing commitment to supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

For over 11 years, DAIT 4 Change (formerly DAIT) has delivered free domestic abuse awareness programmes across Dorset, including The Freedom Programme and The Recovery Toolkit. These courses have helped countless individuals strengthen their confidence, rebuild their self-esteem, and regain independence after abuse. Many participants describe the experience as transformative — a turning point that helped them understand their experiences and move toward healing.

But in recent years, significant funding challenges placed the continuation of these services at risk. When SAFE Partnership — a national charity that has worked with more than 60 local authorities since 1987 — learned of this, they stepped in to help protect the vital support DAIT 4 Change provides.

SAFE Partnership specialises in target hardening measures such as enhanced locks, alarms, and tailored safety planning, helping survivors feel safe and secure in their own homes. Their practical, on-the-ground experience aligns naturally with DAIT 4 Change’s emotional and educational support programmes.

A Shared Mission, A Stronger Future

Together, we now move forward as Safer Horizons — a unified charity with a shared vision: to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse and to build communities where every individual feels seen, heard, and empowered to rebuild their lives.

Through Safer Horizons, we will continue to deliver free domestic abuse awareness courses that provide not just information, but hope. Our programmes are designed to restore dignity, build resilience, and offer survivors the space and support they need to move forward at their own pace.
